There are some venues that seem made for a particular event.
For Titan Capital’s 10th Anniversary Gatsby Gala, Sydney’s spectacular State Theatre provided the perfect backdrop for an evening of live entertainment, dancing, casino tables and old-world glamour.
Event Entertainers was delighted to curate and coordinate the entertainment for the celebration, bringing together a diverse team of performers to create an entertainment program that unfolded throughout the evening.
From Gatsby dancers and showgirls to casino entertainment, live vocals, DJ and sax, the aim was to make the entertainment feel like part of the experience from the moment guests arrived.
With its ornate interiors, sweeping staircases and incredible architectural detail, the State Theatre already brought an extraordinary sense of occasion to the evening.
Our job was to build an entertainment program that complemented that setting. Rather than relying on one headline performance, the evening incorporated multiple entertainment elements at different stages of the event.
Guests were welcomed into an atmosphere of Gatsby-inspired glamour, with performers moving through the venue and entertainment appearing in different spaces throughout the night.
Casino tables gave guests an interactive experience and another way to engage with the event, while Gatsby dancers and character performers helped establish the theme.
As the evening progressed, the entertainment became increasingly performance-focused.
Dance was a major part of the evening.
The performers first appeared in Gatsby-inspired costumes, bringing the energy and movement of the 1920s into the State Theatre.
Later in the evening, the dancers transformed into spectacular showgirls for the final portion of the entertainment.
With elaborate costumes, feather fans and choreography designed to work within the venue, the showgirls created some of the most visually impressive moments of the night.
The beautiful architecture of the State Theatre became part of the performance itself.
Rather than limiting the entertainment to a traditional stage, dancers performed amongst guests and used the foyer and staircase as their backdrop.
It created an experience that felt immediate and immersive, with guests surrounding the performances rather than simply watching them from across the room.
Music played an equally important role in shaping the atmosphere.
DJ and saxophonist Gary Honor created a soundtrack that perfectly complemented the Gatsby theme while keeping the evening moving.
Live vocalist Jess also joined the showgirls for one of the evening’s feature performances, adding another live element to the production.
One of our favourite moments, however, happened organically.
During the evening, Gary met the showgirls on the State Theatre staircase and began performing alongside them.
Guests quickly gathered around. Phones came out. Within moments, an impromptu performance had formed on the staircase.
It wasn’t simply another item on a run sheet. It was one of those wonderfully spontaneous moments that live entertainment can create.
And judging by the number of guests filming it, we weren’t the only ones who loved it.
Events involving several different entertainment suppliers require considerably more planning than simply booking individual performers.
For this event, Event Entertainers also coordinated the entertainment program across the evening.
That included artist scheduling, performance timings, run sheet development, venue liaison, bump-in logistics, performance cueing and on-the-night coordination.
There were also practical considerations happening behind the scenes.
For example, the dancers needed sufficient time between performances to completely change from their Gatsby costumes into their showgirl costumes.
These details may be invisible to guests, but they are an important part of creating an event that feels effortless once the doors open.
Our aim is always for the client and their guests to experience the entertainment, rather than the logistics behind it.
One of the things we loved most about Titan Capital’s celebration was that there wasn’t a single entertainment “moment”.
Entertainment was woven throughout the event.
Guests could interact with the casino tables, encounter performers throughout the venue, watch choreographed dance performances, enjoy live vocals and then experience the energy of DJ and live sax.
Each element had its own role, but collectively they created the atmosphere of the evening.
That is increasingly how we approach larger corporate events at Event Entertainers.
Rather than starting with the question, “Which artist would you like to book?”, we can look at the event as a whole.
What should guests experience when they arrive?
Where are the natural peaks in the evening?
Where could entertainment surprise them?
How should the energy build?
And which combination of performers will make that happen?
From there, we can curate an entertainment program around the event itself.
It was a privilege to be part of such an important milestone for Titan Capital.
The evening was vibrant, glamorous and full of energy, and seeing guests engage so enthusiastically with the performers was a wonderful result for everyone involved.
