Timothy James Bowen is a singer-songwriter with an unforgettable voice and a formidable story to tell. Raised on the rainforest laden, coal-scarred, south east coast of NSW Australia, Timothy writes of his journey through life; young and enduring love, his near-death experiences and his exploration of the world around him.

Early influences and Musical Foundations

Music has always been a fundamental part of Timothy’s life. Growing up under the influence of artists like Paul Simon, Three Dog Night, Eric Clapton and John Mayer, graduating with a Bachelor of Music Studies from the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, and going on to create records under his own steam – He is living a dream that is deeply embedded within his character.

From Choir to Craft: The Path to Songwriting

Timothy began his musical career at the age of 10, training with and eventually leading St. Mary’s Cathedral Choir – Australia’s oldest musical institution. Having received a high school music scholarship and finding a steadfast passion in song, he taught himself to play the guitar and began writing songs from the age of 15. This passion led him to study Jazz at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music. With the help of many willing and patient friends, he honed his skills and broadened his understanding of what it would take to build his craft. Having followed his sister, Clare Bowen, to Nashville, USA in 2011 where she had landed a leading role on the hit TV show, ‘Nashville’, he found a dedicated and inspirational community of artists and writers who helped him push the boundaries of his own songwriting. 

Accolades and Achievements

Since then, Bowen has released a plethora of his own music and gathered a long list of accolades to boot. Timothy has toured internationally, written several songs for US and Australian TV series and penned campaign songs for both Virgin Mobile Australia and Cancer Council NSW. Bowen was nominated for Live Voice of the Year at the 2018 National Live Music Awards, has made multiple appearances at the Grand Ole Opry (USA), performed several times for televised charity events including Channel 9’s Carol’s by Candlelight and following his personal battle with Stage 4 Lymphoma in 2015, he became a Cancer Council Ambassador and was awarded Cancer Council NSW High Profile Ambassador of the Year in 2019. In 2020, he appeared in the Top 8 of The Voice Australia where he had the rare privilege of performing his own songs on the show. He then went on to break ground on his debut album, ‘Sing’, which went on to top charts in Australia and abroad.

Having shared the stage and the studio with the likes of Kasey Chambers, Guy Sebastian, Fanny Lumsden, Morgan Evans, Josh Pyke and Katie Noonan, he is a songwriter and performer who has anchored himself within the industry as an established, renowned and enduring presence.
