A duo in the Chess Garden, a quartet in the marquee and a soundtrack bringing Indian and Western favourites into one celebration.
Anisha and Alex’s wedding at Terrara House on 1 April 2026 brought together 120 guests, with music arranged to suit the different settings and moments of their reception.
Event Entertainers coordinated a package featuring The Ned Verwey Band, combining a live duo, four-piece band and DJ. Each format had a place in the evening, from canapés in the garden to dinner and dancing in the marquee.
A duo for canapés in the Chess Garden
Ned and Cristina performed as a duo for canapés in Terrara House’s Chess Garden.
A garden gathering calls for a different approach from a reception dance floor. Guests need space to talk and settle into the evening, with live music contributing to the atmosphere around them.
For this part of Anisha and Alex’s celebration, the duo kept the entertainment format intimate before the move into the marquee.
A quartet for the reception
Inside the marquee, the line-up expanded to Ned and Cristina with saxophone and percussion.
Boujeehaus brought a confident sense of colour and playfulness to the reception styling. Rich blue and purple draping, vibrant table settings and a mirror ball overhead created a space with plenty of personality, a fitting setting for an evening built around live music and dancing.
The saxophone was a detail Anisha had been drawn to from our first conversation. She loved the fun and energy of brass, making it a meaningful addition to the quartet.
The band performed during dinner, with sets arranged around the meal service and speeches, followed by a shorter live set later in the evening.
Music selected for the moment
Anisha and Alex entered their reception to Tina Turner’s Simply the Best. For their first dance, the DJ played I Choose You by Willie Hutch.
Choosing a song and deciding how it will be delivered are two separate parts of wedding music planning. An original recording preserves the version a couple knows, while live musicians bring their own presence to other parts of the evening.
Here, those choices sat alongside the duo and quartet performances, creating a varied soundtrack across the reception.
A soundtrack with something for everyone
When we first spoke with Anisha and Alex, their shared love of throwbacks and millennial classics quickly came through. They were also thinking about their guests, with Bollywood and disco among the styles discussed as ways to give different people something familiar to enjoy.
That thoughtfulness shaped the entertainment brief. Indian music opened the DJ dance set before the evening moved into Western favourites, alongside performances by The Ned Verwey Band.
With Boujeehaus’s expressive styling setting the scene, the music brought another layer of the couple’s personality to the reception. Their favourite songs and the sounds they wanted to share with their guests were part of the celebration from the outset.
Planning the music around the celebration
With The Maharani Diaries planning the wedding and Event Entertainers coordinating the live music and DJ package, the entertainment was considered across locations, performance formats and key cues.
Anisha and Alex’s reception shows how a duo, quartet and DJ can each serve a different part of the same celebration. The starting point is the couple’s brief: the music they want to hear, the spaces they will use and the moments that need particular attention.
